A little bit about me

Lōkahi Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage | Nat Bailey

Where does one begin haha….

I might just share with you briefly my journey to discovering Lomi Lomi Bodywork.

Being no stranger to the spiritual side of life even from a young age I was always deeply connected to spiritually and my own intuition, that only developed more as I got older, yes I was one of those teenagers who had more crystals than friends and spent my free time in spiritual stores learning how to understand energy over clothing stores to buy the latest trends, this world was always my path.

In my early 20’s I studied reiki and other energy healing modalities because my curiosity has always led the way and I was always so fascinated by this world of energy and healing, but it wasn’t until my mid 30’s that I stumbled into this powerful realm of traditional Hawaiian healing Lomi Lomi bodywork and I literally mean stumbled into it.

My best friend and I just finished hiking Machu Picchu in Peru and we were exhausted and our bodies were feeling beyond worn out, we had a flight straight to Hawaii after that hike, where we found a little place that did massage, we didn’t care what massage was on offer, we just needed a massage to help us recover, not ever hearing about Lomi Lomi prior to this, we both didn’t even know what it was, but it was a massage and that’s what brought us through those doors.

As soon as this tiny yet extremely powerful Indian man commenced this beautiful bodywork I was transported to a place I’ve never been before, it was healing, it was spiritual and it was intentional, nothing like I have ever experienced previously in other massages or healing work and nothing like what I was excepting from this seemingly very unspiritual looking massage place and in that very moment, I felt a pull like no other, I remember getting off his massage table almost floating into the waiting room whilst my friend had her bodywork done and googling what is Lomi Lomi Massage, I was hooked, I wanted to learn all about it and so I did, I never had any desire to massage prior to this and I have had many types of different massages and healings before Lomi Lomi, but nothing that I had experience before hand combined them both so harmoniously.

When I arrived back to Australia I researched a lot on Lomi Lomi Bodywork, I didn’t want to just do a course to learn the massage strokes, I wanted to learn and practice this beautiful sacred bodywork the right way and I found my teacher in Melbourne who offered Lomi Lomi retreats and training, so I booked in and that was the beginning of this beautiful journey.

I am still very much learning about this beautiful bodywork and the traditional teachings, correct protocols and wisdom, even after 7 years of being a practitioner, it is so much more than just another soothing massage to me and to the beautiful Hawaiian culture, it is a lifelong learning journey and practice that I am so fortunate to able to practice as a non Hawaiian Native, it is a way of life that I am proud to be apart of not only within my practice, but within my daily life, these teaching have had such a profound impact on my life and how I connect to myself and the world around me, literally life changing.

I often think of the beginning of this journey, how what is meant for you can show up in the most unexpected ways and changes your life completely, this is how I describe Lomi Lomi to any new client, Lomi Lomi bodywork is life changing, yet not always in the ways we expect it to be, we work with your ancestors and the spiritual realms, they are in the driving seat of your healing and are with us for your highest good, be open to receive, be open to listen and be open to the endless possibilities that can present themselves when you enter this sacred space of healing,

I look forward to journeying with you to the healing realms of Lomi Lomi Bodywork.

Aloha and Mahalo, Nat x
